Free legal music from the web... I think

DISCLAIMER: BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANYTHING METIONED HEREIN, VERIFY WITH YOUR OWN LEGAL COUNSEL THAT THIS IS LEGAL IN YOUR AREA OF THE UNIVERSAL. DON'T HOLD ME RESPONSIBLE IF THE RIAA-GESTAPO COME AFTER YOU.

Ok, with that out of the way, I found a really cool way to find good music for free. I first heard about this on G4TechTV's The Screen Savers. (So, hold them accountable if this is not legal.)

I am sure that some of you have already discovered internet streaming radio. You can find all sorts of music for any taste. You should check-out Shoutcast.com they list 7,800 different radio stations where you can get free streaming audio. You can hear just about genre that you want. Just ot give you an example, here are some of the more popular ones Smooth Jazz, Korean Pop, Ambiant Chill, Vocal Trance, 80s Pop Rock, Hip Hop, Deep House, Classical Symphonic Easy, and the list goes on. My personal favorite has been Radio Paradise . It's a listener supported radio station out of Natucket. They play some pretty cool music.

I really enjoy there music. They play some older stuff that I really like but have forgoten about (like Breeders or the Pixies). Some older stuff that I haven't forgotten about but don't hear that often (like Jimi Hendrix, The Smiths, or Smashing Pumpkins). Some obscure stuff (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole ) Or, some stuff that I have never heard and probably wouldn't hear on mainstream radio. Like the Doves, BT, or Air.

NEways, you can down load StreamRipper here and it will record the songs in MP3s as they play. It even includes the artist and titles of the songs. I recommend picking a high-quality stream for the best sounding recordings . The only thing that is bad about this is that sometimes you can hear the DJ or the bigging of the next song will be captured. However, if you listen to the songs in order or recording (sort by date), then you wouldn't notice it too much.

It's not perfect, but it's free and legal.
